Apple Fun!

Yikes, has it been a busy week!  My usual end of week post is now a beginning of the next week post!

So, anyway, last week we had tons of fun with apples!

We worked on sorting apples by size.  If you'd like a copy of this activity, made by my friend Lola at Preschool Wonders, (or to see her post on our apple theme) click here.

We worked on position words with Wiggle's Apple Book, which you can download for free on TPT by clicking here.

We practiced cutting and spelling our names.

We used this apple tree freebie from TPT to practice counting.

We used this Apple Investigation form to record the color, height, and weight of our apples as well as if they had a stem or not.  We also made an apple print on them.

And what apple unit would be complete without an apple tasting?!  We tried golden delicious, red delicious, granny smith, and gala.  The red delicious were the class favorite.  We also sampled some applesauce.  And by sampled, I mean scarfed down 2/3 of a large jar.  :)

We made apples with play dough and this little darling wanted to show of his apple with his "Big Apple" t-shirt!

But, the highlight of the week was definitely Apple Fun Day!

We climbed the apple tree and picked an apple.

We had a relay race where the kids picked up an apple with bug catcher tongs and ran them down to a basket.

We played apple baseball...

and apple hockey.

But, their favorite part was getting to throw the beat up, semi rotten apples over the fence for the critters to enjoy.

Then we went inside and joined up with Ms. Kellie's class to make Apple Taffy Pizza.  Have you had Apple Taffy Pizza?  It's delicious, if you'd like to try it, you can get the recipe here.

Most of the kids loved it...except this cutie.  I think the apples were a little too tart for her liking.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, look what we noticed...This little darling and I had on matching outfits right down to the silver sandals!

And, Ms. Mary stopped by for language group.  We worked on "who," "what," and "where" while making sentences.  The kids loved making up stories about the picture cards!

Thanks for stopping by!
