More Halloween Fun!

fiveforfriday2_thumb3
Happy Friday!  We've had so much fun with Halloween this week!  On Monday we made bats out of pieces of egg cartons.  We painted them black and once they dried, we added wiggle eyes and a yarn loop so that they could fly.

Here's some of the kids with their finished bats and wearing their masks we made during our Monsters unit.

We've been singing the "Five Little Pumpkins" song for the last few weeks and on Tuesday we cut out five pumpkins and glued them on the fence.  The rhyme was also on the paper so that the kids could sing it with their families.  I found the worksheet at Give your Octopus a Paintbrush.

On Tuesday we also made spiders in a spiderweb.  I modeled how to make a spiderweb and then the kids drew their own web.  Then, we gave each of them a square of faux fur, legs, and eyes to glue on.  I LOVE how they turned out!

Because it was rainy on Tuesday and we couldn't go outside for recess, we had time to watch Sid the Science Kid's Spooky Halloween Special.  In the episode, they taught the kids about the purpose of a spider's web and had the kids try to make a web with yarn.  After we watched the video, we made our own yarn web.  Each of my little darlings added to the spiderweb.  You can click here for a link to the video.

Here they are standing in the finished product!

On Wednesday we investigated pumpkins.  We have a family that donates a pumpkin for each child in our school, so each of my cuties had their own pumpkin to investigate.  We drew a picture of our pumpkin, decided what size it was, counted how many lines it had, counted how many cubes tall it was, and investigated if it would sink or float.  They loved seeing if their pumpkin would sink or float!  If you're wondering, a pumpkin does float...just barely.

Thursday was Halloween and Pumpkin Fun Day!  We went to the gym and played jack-o-lantern bean bag toss, ring toss, and bowling.  There were also sensory tables with Halloween themed items in them.

Afterwards, we came back to the room and had Halloween treats!

We played spider ring toss...

and pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern.  This little sweetie was a little confused about where to pin the nose.  :)

Here are some of my little cuties showing off the cool Halloween treats that my mom made for them.  They were so excited about their candy skewers!

Ok, I know I already have lots of pictures, but I have to show off their pumpkin pictures!

I hope you had a fun Halloween!  Thanks for stopping by!
