Five For Friday {August 23, 2013}

fiveforfriday2

Once again, I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her weekly Five for Friday linky party.  We did it...we survived the first full week of school and it was a great week!

1.  We've been practicing lining up and staying in line while walking.  Look at what an awesome job these little sweeties are doing!

2.  Here's one of my little darlings showing off his snack placemat.  We made these on the first day of school.  They have each child's name, colors, shapes, and their birthday on them.  The afternoon kids also have their phone number and address.  I'm hoping these will be a great way to practice this information and help me do quick assessments of these skills.

3.  We read Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See? this week.  On Monday, we painted paper plate pieces brown and on Tuesday we assembled them.  The finished product is below.  I love art projects because we work on lots of great skills {like following directions, body parts, positional words, and don't forget all the fine motor skills} without the kids even knowing.  It's also so much fun to see how the projects reflect each child's personality.

4.  We always display some of the sweeties art work, but this year I've given each child a circle with their name on it.  That way, no matter where there name is on the art project, we'll all know whose project is whose!

5.  After snack, the afternoon kids each have their own journal to draw and write in.  After reading Brown Bear, this little darling drew a brown bear of his own!  Can you believe what an awesome artist he is?!  They impressed me so much with their journals this week, I can't wait to see what other amazing things they draw and write this year!

Here are some bonus pictures from our week:

After reading Brown Bear, we colored each of the animals in the story.  They loved coloring the animals and using the paper to retell the story!

Look at these cuties sitting and reading so nicely!  We're really practicing book handling skills, so I was so happy when I caught them making such good choices!

It makes me so happy to see them playing together!  I love overhearing the conversations during playtime.  I can't even begin to explain how far they've come with their play skills!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy weekend!
