Goldilocks and the Three Bears

After spending two weeks on nursery rhymes, we moved into fairy tales.  Last week we focused on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  We read several versions of the story and during art time, we made the three bears.  We still have some finishing touches to add, but here are a few pictures of the beginning of the project.

A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to have Matt Glover come to our school for a training.  He has written several books about encouraging writing in young children.  During the training, he did a mini-lesson in our classroom.  I was so proud of the kids!  They were very attentive and well behaved and loved making their own books!

While they were working, Matt met with a few of the kids and gave them a few ideas to try in their writing.

This cutie took off with it and added all kinds of words to her book!

The kids loved having him look at their work!

Last week we worked on drawing self portraits and writing names.

We also had a Young Audiences performance.  They incorporated math with music and the kids had a lot of fun!

But, the biggest thing to happen last week was completely unplanned!  One of the kids noticed that there were two ducks by our back door.  We all had so much fun watching them!  It was a male and a female, so we think they were trying to build a nest.

We ended the week with our Walk-a-Thon fundraiser.  We walked a few laps around the bus lane and it was a perfect day to be outside!

And, the popsicles at the end were pretty great, too!

It was a fun week and I can't believe the school year is almost over!

If you haven't yet, make sure you check out the other posts from this weekend:

Thanks for stopping by!
