We did it...we survived the first full week of school! It was a great week and we're enjoying getting to know each other. Our focus question this week was, "What names do we need to know at school?" We worked on learning the kid's names, the adult's names, names of the areas in our classroom, and names of items in our classroom.
During table time this week, we played with manipulatives,
practiced coloring and identifying color words,
and played on the iPads.
During circle time we read A Pocket for Corduroy and talked about why we need to know each other's names. We also read Love is a Family and talked about how our families are all different.
We labeled a variety of objects in our classroom and discussed how we use them. Here I'm explaining what we use the pointer for.
We also discussed how and when we use a glue stick.
We had lots of fun playing during center time!
During center time, each child drew a self portrait or a picture of their family and we displayed it on our bulletin board in the hallway.
We also celebrated two birthdays this week! That meant two days of yummy cupcakes!
I think we're off to a great start!
Thanks for stopping by!
