It's official--Winter Break is here! After a fun but super busy week I am excited for a few weeks of relaxation! Here's a look at what we did this week. We were busy little elves trying to finish all of our holiday projects!
Monday, for the ninth day, we made Christmas trees out of paper plates. Each child painted their pieces and then later in the week we assembled them in size order and used Dot Art markers to decorate them.
The tenth day was Santa! I found this idea at
Whatever... and knew it had to be our Santa project. We started by curling the strips that would become Santa's beard. We used markers and pencils to curl the paper.
Once they got the hang of it, they were pretty good at it. They were so excited every time they curled another strip!
Then we started assembling the hat and face.
We finished by adding the beard.

Wednesday was a busy day! We had lots of things to finish and we were closing in on party day! We started by using the Dot Art markers to decorate a tree.
While they were working on their trees, I called them over to make their snowman ornaments. We used the hot glue gun (low-temp) to assemble them, so we worked one-on-one with close supervision!
Then, we called them over one at a time to wrap all of their ornaments to give to their parents. Earlier in the week they decorated a white lunch sack to use as the gift bag. They also made an ornament that day by decorating a white circle, then we added their picture, laminated it, and added a yarn loop to hang it with. Each of my little darlings had four ornaments to give to their parents: a beaded candy cane, a tongue depressor reindeer, a snowman, and the paper circle they decorated.
Then, Ms. Mary helped them add a ribbon bow to the top.
On Thursday, we started our party day by playing with peppermint scented play-dough.

Then, we had carolers come visit! Fourth and fifth graders from a neighboring school stopped by and sang a few songs to us. We had fun singing along!
After the carolers, our party officially started! Parents were invited and we kicked off the party by singing a few of the Christmas classics we'd been practicing. We sang Jingle Bells, Rudolph, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. {Zoodles/Clocky the elf is photo bombing another picture! He's hanging from yarn that he tied between the projector and the dry erase board. He also left us a note wishing us a Merry Christmas!}
We moved on to the highlight of the party--Cocoa and Cookies!! We served popcorn and gave each of them a sugar cookie. Of course the cookie wouldn't be complete without some icing and sprinkles to decorate it with! Then we served hot chocolate with marshmallows.
After their snack, they played for a little while and then it was time to send them off for winter break!
Tuesday night, Ms. Mary and I were busy finishing the kids presents! We covered a composition notebook with scrapbook paper and added a frame with their name on it. Then, we covered it with Contact paper.
Ms. Mary wrapped each one and added a candy cane to finish it off. I hope they like them!
